GM DEXOS1 GEN 2 APPROVAL OBTAINED
Important update to GM dexos1 Gen 2 for HIGHTEC SYNT RS D1 SAE 5W-30
Today we can inform you that our HIGHTEC SYNT RS D1 SAE 5W-30 product (article number 20212) has received an update and is as of now approved under the new GM dexos1 Gen 2 specification. All supplies of HIGHTEC SYNT RS D1 SAE 5W-30 produced from now on are thus outstandingly able to cater to the stricter requirements of GM (dexos1 Gen 2).
GM has suffered a number of engine problems and even catastrophic engine damage most recently, caused by so-called low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI). This LSPI is a sudden and unintended combustion of the air-fuel mixture before the actual ignition, which can lead to engine damage. GM responded to the problem by tightening the engine oil requirements. The result is the new GM dexos1 Gen 2 specification. GM is as of now prohibiting the old dexos1 specification (full name dexos1:2009) for several vehicles to prevent engine damage.
ROWE has also updated its existing dexos1 product so that it meets the new GM dexos1 Gen 2 specification now. This is also confirmed by the nominal approval from GM, which has already been provided to us. The new product is furthermore also backwards compatible with the previous dexos1 specification (dexos1:2009).
You can recognise the new HIGHTEC SYNT RS D1 SAE 5W-30 from the extra sticker attached to the containers. This extra sticker (see picture on right) marks out the updated product and will disappear again after a transition period. Thereafter you will be able to recognise the new product from the advertised “GM dexos1™ Gen 2” approval.<< back to overview
