ROWE CONTAINERS NOW MADE OF 50% RECYCLED MATERIALS

From now on, ROWE containers will be made with a minimum of 50 per cent recycled materials. Our subsidiary Palbo GmbH, which manufactures all canisters and bottles for ROWE, produced the first containers with an increased recyclate share in June. For ROWE customers, the even more sustainable containers do not result in any additional costs. Parallel to this, the existing stocks with a recyclate content of 20 per cent will also continue to be used, so that both containers will be found at retailers for a certain time.

Sandro Schuck, CEO of Palbo GmbH, says: "Thanks to comprehensive tests, we can guarantee that our containers made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) in the new material mix offer the same performance as the previous canisters and bottles. We have not just tested the material intensively in the laboratory, but have also subjected the containers to rigorous testing under practical conditions." Canisters from pre-series production were therefore filled, loaded onto trucks and transported all over Europe to ROWE customers – under a wide range of weather and road conditions. "They passed this test with flying colours," says Sandro Schuck.

SUSTAINABLE CONTAINERS

The HDPE recyclate used for ROWE containers has a purity of more than 99 per cent. The ROWE subsidiary obtains the raw material from regional manufacturers, so that only little CO2 is produced during transport. The first products in canisters made of 50 per cent recyclate will probably be delivered to dealers during July. They can be clearly recognised by the stamped "50%" marking on the container.

"Container production at Palbo is an important part of our sustainability strategy. This is due first of all to the material used, which up to now has already had a recyclate content of at least 20%. In addition, Palbo manufactures the containers directly at our production locations, so that there are no emissions due to transport. With the decision to use even more recycled material, we are now taking the logical next step."
